Welcome
Welcome to the website of the Doctoral School of Materials Science and Technology at Óbuda University! The doctoral school is authorized to provide doctoral training in the field of materials science and technology, to conduct habilitation procedures, and to recognize PhD degrees obtained abroad.
The Doctoral School of Materials Science and Technology began operating in 2012. At the outset, the main areas of study and research in the training program were aligned with the fundamental trends in international materials science development (polymers, ceramics, metals, composites, micro- and nanosystems). Subsequently, the spectrum of research topics has expanded significantly and become more specialized, in line with the growing importance of materials science research and applications in several scientific fields and disciplines. This trend is also reflected in the fact that, due to the interdisciplinary nature of materials science, universities are launching specializations in materials science and technology in a number of master’s programs in the natural and technical sciences. There is also a growing demand in doctoral schools for the study of materials science topics related to mechanical engineering, mechatronics, electrical engineering, light industry, and environmental engineering. Each of these fields has a number of important materials science research areas, including, for example, mechanical engineering equipment operating in nuclear environments, sensors in mechatronics, and the materials science aspects of semiconductor and solar cell development in electrical engineering.
